MICARE Regional Seminar on care was held at PUCV

The event allowed researchers and students to explore future collaborations on care research in the Valparaíso region.

A new edition of the MICARE Regional Seminar took place on September the 3rd at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso. The event was held to help build collaboration capacities among various stakeholders within the Valparaíso region.

The seminar was organized jointly by the Millenium Institute MICARE and the School of Pedagogy at PUCV.

Claudia Miranda, MICARE’s director, described the activity as an opportunity to meet with researchers and students to discuss how to tacke local communities needs.

“It is very important for us to have the opportunity to meet and talk about the possibilities we have to collaborate and respond to the needs of the territory. We believe that there has to be a dialogue in order to generate knowledge that makes sense”, said the director.

The seminar “Care in Chile: perspectives and results from frontier research” included the presentation of projects in the various research áreas of MICARE and the work done by its Experts by Experience.

Carolina Lucero, one of MICARE’s Experts by Experience, said she was very happy to be part of the event. “As someone that lives in this region, I am glad this evento has taken place here and not in Santiago. I hope that in the future MICARE can take the voice of its Experts by Experience to other regions”, said.

Rubén López, head of the Programa de Acción Senior at PUCV, said: “I come here to look for ideas and research that can contribute to improve the projects we are developing”.

The seminar was presented by Beatriz Fernández, associate researcher; Mariana Loezar, postdoctoral researcher; and psicology students from Universidad de Los Andes, Simón Guajardo and Nicolás Zúñiga.

This is the second edition of the MICARE Regional Seminar, following last year’s visit to Universidad de La Frontera.
