Correlation between fear of falling and sociodemographic, biomedical, and comprehensive geriatric assessment factors in older people

Published by the scientific journal Gerokomos, the research seeks to analyze the correlation between the fear of falling in people over 60 years of age and their sociodemographic and biometric factors, with also their geriatric assessment. It was done through a descriptive study, measuring functional, cognitive, affective, and demographic variables, among others.

Main findings:

Educational level, functionality, mood, satisfaction with life and self-perception of health were the main variables correlated with the fear of falling in older people.

The authors believe it is important to recognize this phenomenon at the primary health care level, to encourage positive ageing.
