From January 7 to 21, the Millennium Institute for Care Research, MICARE, received a visit from two expert researchers in intellectual disability, care, and self-care, who participated in various instances of an academic nature.
Maribel Cruz (Doctor in Disability Research) and María del Carmen Pérez (Doctor in Nursing Sciences) are senior researchers at MICARE, in addition to being full-time research professors at the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosí, Mexico.
Both academics visited the cities of Santiago and Valparaíso, in Chile. In the capital, Maribel and Carmen visited the MICARE offices at the Republic Campus of Andrés Bello University, where they shared with the Executive Team planning actions around scientific productivity.
In addition, the researchers met with Alejandra Araya, associate researcher at the Institute, to project joint actions in research in Nursing Sciences and student mobility projects between UNAB and the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosí, Mexico. Both academics also shared their research with María Mansilla, Editor-in-Chief of Anfibia Magazine in Argentina, and Chile.
In Valparaíso, the academics had a meeting with our Spokespersons Office, to learn about their work and think about joint projects.
It was also there that they were able to hold a free discussion on self-care for people with disabilities, with a focus on self-determination. The activity was carried out on the Sausalito campus of the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso.
