This project by our associate researcher Beatriz Fernández together with the young researchers Bárbara Flores and Javiera Rossel, which begins in 2023, aims to study different factors in the care of dependent elderly people according to the diverse geography of Chile.
The authors propose that an analysis of these characteristics is crucial given the government’s priority in the implementation of the National Support and Care System (SNAC), which includes a registry of caregivers, the strengthening of different care programs, promoting an aging policy, and a digital literacy plan to promote telecare.
The methodology will have a traditional focus of urban and gender analysis; but also innovations regarding the analysis of social networks, data mining and construction of information on a neighborhood scale.
Main objectives
The purpose of the study is an analysis of the availability and need for care for dependent elderly people in the country, in addition to locating them geographically considering gaps in access and well-being of the people involved.
