Keys to bring technology to the Local Support and Care Network

Description

Chapter written by Paula Miranda, Alejandra Inostroza, Andrés Aparicio, and Claudia Martínez.

The Local Support and Care Network Program is a state initiative that seeks to provide support to people in a situation of functional dependency and their caregivers. It has been in operation for less than 10 years, so it is still in the process of reformulation, redesign and coverage expansion.

In the eighth chapter of the book “Proposals for Chile 2022” of the UC Public Policy Contest, four researchers -three of them members of MICARE- worked thinking of ways to enrich this system through the use of technologies. A socio-technological articulation system is proposed. It should be structured around four main ideas, and it should be implemented in a collaborative process between the central level and the end users.
